"As a member of the Calgary based dance/show band Gary Martin & The Heavenly Blues I met Maria when she attended one of our performances.  I had the opportunity to take a look at some of her work that was posted on a photography website as well as those on her own website and I was immediately impressed with the artistic value that her photos all had.  The breathtaking scenic shots to those of her close friends all beautifully captured.  She was able to see and photograph these inspired moments that you just know were very fleeting and short lived but are now a matter of permanent record through her art.  I asked if she would consider doing a photo shoot of the band after having the opportunity to get to know all of us a little bit.  This is a very diverse group of individuals and we had a ball going from one location to another goofing around and serenading both her and her assistant.  The photos that resulted are true interpretations of the band as a unit and the individuality of the musicians and artists that she was shooting.  I would highly recommend Maria Powell if you are looking for a photographer to capture those life’s most important moments or for photos simply for the sake of art."
